Machete Manifesto

GBR242 is a foam/glass/kevlar Nethecott IC built by Windebank in 1992. She is a really tough hull that has and will put up with a ton of mal-treatment. She is a little heavy, but by no means massively so. I sailed her at the 2005 IC worlds and 2012 euros and didn't come last in either. Everything works as it should, including full raking rig. She would make a great introduction into canoe sailing, either for racing or just some fun and fast cruising. I am selling due to having another canoe.
She currently has carbon seat which is strong and light, carbon carriage, carbon foils, and spare set, a carbon mast and boom, but I would be happy to sell her with or without the carbon bits at a range of costs dependent on how much carbon you want. She has one set of sails, including a Sanders radial main, which is flatish and easy to control in a blow. Mast is made by Selden and is on the stiff side, suiting someone in the heavier range. I weigh 85Kg.
She is on a good combi trailer, although one of the mudguards needs to be reattached. The cover is not a great fit on the boat, nor in that good a condition but does work.
Cost for boat with carbon everything £1200. This is cheap for an all-up carbon IC, but the boat does need some tidying up and a little investment to get the best out of it.
Costs as a project: Canoes are always in a state of build and rebuild and I would be happy to sell this canoe for less if the sale did not include some of the current carbon parts, but instead had the older or original non-carbon parts.
For instance, without the Selden Carbon mast, but with another softer carbon mast suited better for the lighter helm, I would be happy to sell for £1100
With a good aluminum mast, it would be only £1000.
With the original heavy seat and carriage and also wooden dagger board, I would be happy to sell for £800 A very good price for a fun strong learner boat.
